PROJECT ASSIGNMENT
SUMMARY
Parker Hannifin is the world’s leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems. The Parker-Abex division provides commercial and military aircraft programs with technology and reliability. One area is in hydraulic systems. Summit Technology Services, Inc. is providing a Sr. Software Engineer to perform the analysis, development and support for their test systems.
The work performed at Parker is in support of their Customer Support Organization's testing of both new and returned pump/motor packages. These “PMP” units consist of an electric motor driving a hydraulic pump. The tests performed on these units varied, by model as well as being dependent on whether they were newly assembled units or customer field returns. The tests include testing for rated flows and/or pressures at specifically supplied voltages, and the measurement of current drawn at these flows . The test systems are developed in National Instruments' LabVIEWtm , and control a number of test conditions, including inlet pressure, outlet pressures and flows, power supply voltage and frequency. During tests to detect excessive internal wear, a quantity of the circulating hydraulic fluid is passed through a particle counter. Communication with this device is made serially, the communication with the programmable power supply controller is through GPIB, and the valves are controlled by both digital and analog signals from a National Instruments' Data Acquisition (DAQ) Card.
