This position is 50/50 behind the desk and on the manufacturing floor. Ideal candidates must have project management and leadership skills to run projects. Needs to be self- motivated and have the ability to communicate with team members, management and vendors; will be the go to person for process engineers.

Education Required: BS in Electrical Engineering or an EET (4yr) degree.
Experience; 5 plus years in manufacturing environment

Scope of Position:
Serve as an electrical controls resource for process improvement, cost reduction and capital expansion projects. Manage electrical and controls scope of assigned projects. Lead/participate in project teams and support daily manufacturing operations by providing technical support to plant’s various control systems.

Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Provide electrical and controls engineering and equipment technical expertise in fiber optic cable manufacturing in support of production, maintenance, continuous improvement, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
• Internal subject matter expert in control systems (PLC, HMI, Drives etc.,), system integration, sensors and electro-mechanical devices.
• Provide technical support when maintenance requirements exceed electrical associate capabilities.
• Develop fundamental understanding of critical process and technical requirements, identify areas of technical risk in assigned projects, conduct prototype / feasibility testing to verify concept, and define and document system design specifications.
• Develop control architectures, control functional specification, and system integration requirements that will satisfy process and manufacturing requirements.
• Actively participate / direct all phases of the project including design, fabrication, off-line integration and testing, installation, production start-up support, training of plant personnel and technology transfer.
• Recommend and implement long term solutions to recurring equipment performance issues. Provide inputs to capital and facilities plans for equipment upgrade or maintenance cycles.
• Be responsible for the plant controls strategy and establishing and maintaining the plant standards.
• Support process projects and data system projects by interfacing with operators and production team leaders to monitor and correct process fluctuations and equipment issues
• Conduct equipment qualifications and initial training of new personnel
• Owner of OSI PI configuration, implementation and MES.
• Support plant initiatives, and Operations on OEE, SPC, SQC and ISO
• Provide timely and efficient engineering support to meet or exceed the requirements of internal and external customers.
• Individual must be capable of executing project assignments, in a team based environment, with minimal supervision

Required Skills:
• Experience in programming PLC (AB RSLogix, Controllogix, Siemens S7 and G&L)
• Able to design, configure, and implement HMI programming
• Ability to program in ladder logic
• Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, control systems integration, controls architectures, PLC’s, electro-mechanical drive systems, vision system, risk assessment and safety systems
• Understanding and updating electrical schematics and prints will be a required capability for projects that support plant systems
• Experience with the implementation and functions of PID Controls and control loop tuning
• Experienced in the checkout and verification of electrical control panels
• Well versed in the rules and regulation relating to implementation and best practices in electrical system design and implementation

EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Summit is seeking C/C++/ARM assembly Embedded Software Engineer

1. Work Summary
Perform Requirements Analysis, Design, Development and Testing of embedded software. Candidate will need to follow defined development and process (CMMI-3) standards, including application of architectural standards used in embedded radio product development. Candidate must be willing to rework requirements/code/design based on feedback from other software developers (via requirement/code/design reviews) and develop high-quality work products which are thoroughly unit tested prior to integration.

Help develop and direct software systems testing procedures, programming and documentation. Perform wireless systems integration and testing.
Provide technical support to internal customers.
Execution of software development process in CMMI Level 3 environment.
Perform coding and unit test of resultant software/firmware.
Perform software/firmware component integration.
Identify, track and repair software/firmware defects.

2. Qualifications BSEE, BSCS, BSCE required or equivalent experience.
MS Desirable.
Must have a minimum of 7 years relevant industry experience with embedded firmware.
Must have a strong firmware and DSP development background.
Proficiency with C/C++ and ARM assembly required.
Experience with software emulators/debuggers required.
Proficiency with multi-threaded design and/or real-time operating systems is required.
Experience with various legacy and current VOCODORs, including CVSD, MELP, G.711, and G.729.
Experience with ARM NEON instruction highly desirable
Experience with Telelogic DOORS and SmartBear Code Collaborator helpful.

3. Position Description: Implement VOCORERs in ARM GPPs utilizing C/C++ and ARM NEON instructions, where applicable, to reduce CPU loading. Perform design simulations and capture design specifications.
Apply principles and techniques of software development, computer engineering, electrical engineering, and mathematical analysis to daily tasking.
Analyze requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Consult with electrical engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interfaces between hardware and software/firmware with consideration for operational performance requirements of the overall system.
Able to lead a small team through research, design, and development of embedded software/firmware systems, with close interaction with Hardware product development technical team.
Help develop project plans, technical oversight, design, implement, test, and maintain embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment.
